- If I am bringing my own boat, where do I park my trailer and boat?
Roads around the RPAYC are narrow and easily congested by traffic. If you are bringing a boat and trailer, please drop the boat at the RPA Crystal Bay Car Park accessed from Crystal St, off Irrubel Rd, Newport before attempting access to the RPA Club grounds. See aerial photographs attached.
At Crystal Bay, traffic marshals will indicate where your boat is best dropped before directing you to Rowland Reserve, Pittwater Road, Bayview to drop your trailer. Adjacent to Marine Rescue Broken Bay headquarters in Rowland Reserve you will find a dedicated area for HANSA trailer DIY stack parking. If a volunteer traffic marshal is not on duty, please remain mindful that Rowland Reserve is public space, that trailers are to be left wholly within the marked HANSA area and with consideration for the many other trailer owners sharing the space.
- If driving my own vehicle, where do I park during the regatta?
Once boats are dropped at Crystal Bay carpark and trailers are dropped at Rowaland Reserve, RPA has two dedicated car parking facilities, one within the Mitala Street, Newport, Club grounds and the other at Crystal Bay.
There is pedestrian access between the Club grounds and Crystal Bay.
We anticipate heavy demand for both carparks, particularly during Club racing on the evening of 20 March and afternoon of 22 March, after which racing activities at the Club have been deferred until the HANSA regatta concludes.
Volunteer Club traffic marshals will direct you to available spaces in either car park, but once RPA parking is exhausted, visitors will need to park in adjacent streets. Whilst Council is aware of the regatta and has been instrumental in assisting it to fruition, they have provided no moratorium on parking fines that apply for breaches of parking notices.
- When I arrive at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (“RPA”) where do I register for the event?
A Welcome desk and separate Registration desk will be located in the ground floor bar area of the Clubhouse. When you arrive at Reception you will be guided to this location.
Registration is available 23 & 24 March from 0900 – 1700.
- Where and when will my boat be measured?
Measurement will commence 20 March 2025 with first priority to circa 50 HANSA boats delivered to the Club for charter purposes.
Measurement will proceed until 1600 24 March 2025.
The measurement will start with the charter boats on the 20th 21st and 22nd and be completed on the 23rd and 24th March.
Liberty class dinghies and Liberty sailors will be measured at the Clubs Green Point Facility.
Hansa 2.3’s and 303’s will be measured either at the Crystal Bay hardstands or Clubs Green Point
SKUD’s will be measured at the Clubs Crystal Bay hardstands.
Sails will be measured on Level 1 of the Clubhouse. Sames dates as the boats as above.
- If I am Chartering a boat, how do I collect it?
Before collection of a charter boat, charterers must first attend the Charter Table in the clubhouse to complete any necessary arrangements.
This is handled by the Hansa Association.
The Charter table will advise location of a boat for collection and for preparation and sailing.
Competitors are responsible to arrange launching and retrieval of their boats at any time prior to 1700 24 March 2025 and competitors may need to queue at the Clubs Crystal Bay ramp for that purpose.
The NOR provides that all boats must be launched before 1700 24 March 2025, after which boats may only be retrieved from the water for repairs or otherwise in terms of NOR Amendment 3.
- If I need to repair my boat out of the water, how do I do this?
This is coordinated with Hansa Yachts and Chris Mitchell.
- At the end of racing each day where do I take my boat?
Your boat will be returned to the general location from where it was launched. Assistance will be provided by Dock volunteers. See aerial photograph.
